Senior Newsletter #2 – Class of 2024

Post

Dear Seniors and Families,

As you return from what was hopefully a restful Easter Break there are some important reminders about upcoming senior events that I want to highlight.  Please read through the following descriptions carefully. If you don’t understand or require clarification, reach out to Dean Cost.

  • Awards Assembly and  Farewell Mass/Honor Guard: The same rules apply for “Dress Code/Open Dances” Seniors are encouraged to wear appropriate garments and must adhere to the dress code policy. Honor Guards will be in formal uniform.
  • Baccalaureate and Graduation: The same rules apply for “Dress Code/Open Dances.” However, light-colored garments should be worn under the white graduation gown.
  • Students must adhere to standard school policy on hairstyle, color, and dress code.
  • Graduation Regalia: To better acknowledge and honor the diverse backgrounds of our students, graduates may wear one (1) item of personal significance related to her ethnicity, culture, religion, nationality, race, color, and/or ancestry during Graduation, as long as the item is consistent with Catholic church teachings and the mission of our school. Please remember it is important to be respectful and avoid appropriating or misrepresenting aspects of a culture to which you don’t belong.
    • Students may also wear CSF/NHS honors society cords/stoles or academic medals only from senior year at SFHS. Students are limited to one tassel. Caps cannot be decorated. No other decorations or symbols are allowed.
    • No regalia or caps may be worn during Baccalaureate, only the designated white gown.

As a reminder, clothing containing objectionable references, symbols, words, advertising, political or propaganda that is against the philosophy of St. Francis are not permitted at any time. Any senior student interested in wearing one (1) item of personal significance related to her ethnicity, culture, religion, nationality, race, color, and/or ancestry should submit a picture of the (1) item and an explanation as to its significance to the Dean’s Office no later than Wednesday, May 15 at 5:00 p.m. for Administrative review.  The earlier the better so if there are any issues there is time to possibly submit a second choice.
