Water Polo Advances with 10-7 Win over Oak Ridge

SACRAMENTO, CALIF. – Malia Arnott and Kobe Carpenter scored three times each to help St. Francis advance to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I semifinals on Thursday. The Troubadours will play St. Mary’s on Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 3:15 p.m.

“It felt really good to contribute especially when we have been really working on our team bonding,” said Arnott. “We want to make sure we are working as a team and got through as a team to move forward.”

St. Francis jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the first quarter with goals by Caroline Wilkins and Arnott. Natalie Imboden opened the third quarter with a goal to push the lead to 3-1. SF scored four goals in the second with Carpenter and Wilkins joining Alyssa Jacobsen with scored.

Oak Ridge threatened in the third, scoring three times and pulling within two goals. With the scored 7-5, freshman Zoe Sloat scored to push the lead back to three and the Trojans never got closer.

“After looking at the stats before the game, I thought it was going to be a challenging match,” said Imboden. “We came out and performed and worked as a team. I am really excited we won and we are really excited to keep going in the playoffs.”
