Golfer Selected for Second First Tee Event

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Rising junior Olivia Alcoran has been selected by The First Tee for another Golf and Leadership event this year.  She is one of 96 junior golfers selected nationwide by The First Tee to participate in the 2017 The First Tee Life Skills & Leadership Academy that will take place in East Lansing, MI from July 26 – August 1, 2017.

 

Nearly 100 junior golfers from The First Tee attend the Life Skills and Leadership Academy each year. Teen participants have the opportunity to develop and hone skills to become leaders in their chapters, schools and communities while experiencing championship golf, career exploration and dorm living.

The Academy is staged by The First Tee home office in St. Augustine, Florida and is hosted by Michigan State University and The First Tee of Mid-Michigan.

Alcoran, who is from Folsom, participated in The First Tee National Par-3 Championship in Richmond, VA in June 2016 and will participate in the 2017 John Deere Drive Your Future Academy in Atlanta, GA on June 19-22.

Alcoran was named the team’s Most Valuable Player and the winner of the Integrity in the Moment Award. She played every match, posting a team-best 38.7 scoring average in dual matches. She earned medalist honors a team-best  two times during the season.
